Message from the 2022 SWG President
Hello, fellow writers! I am so excited as we kick off a new year of Springfield Writers Guild! We have before us yet another opportunity to hone our craft, support one another, and share ideas and inspiration.
The Library Center is reserved for the entire calendar year, so we will spend all of 2022 in one place for our meetings. The only caveat is the March meeting. The good news is we have both smaller community rooms (next to the big conference room), which hold up to 65 people. So we will enjoy all our meetings in one location this year. We will continue to provide a hybrid environment, allowing members to join us remotely on Zoom as well.
As president this year, I intend to focus on inclusion. So often we find ourselves talking about publishing books, and that is indeed the goal of many of our members. But we also have members published in magazines, newspapers, and anthologies. We have folks who write genealogical books for their families. We have screenplay writers and playwrights, and some who are busy writing poetry in notebooks, dreaming about the day when their words might be read by someone else (that’s where I was in my 30s). All of us who write have been given a gift, and that gift, that creative spirit within us, makes us whole. So let us all come together, let us all have a voice, and let us all learn and enjoy this wonderful thing we do called, ‘Writing.’
BTP WRITERS CONFERENCE RETURNING IN 2023
The 2022 Between the Pages Writers’ Conference was such a success, we’re doing it again! Over 150 writers and authors from seven different states came together for camaraderie, inspiration, and making new friendships.
Thank you to all who attended! YOU made it a success, and we hope you’ll come back. Also, thank you to all who responded to the survey. It will help us make the next one even better! Stay tuned for more information!
