Marilyn Estes Quigley, a multi-published author of short stories, books, novels, magazine articles, poetry, collegiate curriculum, and a musical drama will be the featured speaker at the Springfield Writers’ Guild’s August 28 meeting.
Receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Master’s degree in English at Missouri State University, Quigley served as an associate professor at Evangel University where she taught creative writing, literature, and composition. After 33 years of teaching, Quigley retired from Evangel in 2011 where she is now a professor emeritus of English.
Regarding her personal written works, Quigley composed From Pit to Palace, a children’s musical based on the life of Joseph. In 2004 she published her first book, Hell Frozen Over: The Battle of the Bulge. In 2012, Quigley received the Writing Mentorship Award from the Nevada chapter of Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators for her picture books.
In 2020, Quigley published her first novel, Journey to Elsewhere, a time travel adventure of three children. She has an unpublished novel, Windsor’s War, that she hopes to publish in the near future.
Earlier this year, Quigley wrote two COVID-19 vaccine articles that were published by RealClearScience.com, an online science publication. In June, Quigley was accepted as a visiting fellow in the Independent Women’s Forum (IWF), a national women’s organization dedicated to developing and advancing policies that enhance people’s freedom, opportunities, and well-being. She will be writing an article per month over the next six months for the IWF’s publications.
