
Marilyn Hope Lake, Ph.D.
Marilyn Hope Lake, Ph.D., writes short fiction, poetry, plays, and children’s picture books. She is known widely for her children’s book, Buddy and the Grandcats, published in 2007, which has sold over 500 copies. A second edition, reformatted for Amazon, TWO CATS AND A DOG, won second prize in the Missouri Writer’s Guild President’s Contests for Juvenile Books in 2017. Marilyn has won several awards for her fiction and poetry—most notably First Place in the 2011 Dr. Doris Mueller Poetry and Prose Contests for children’s literature with the story “Boots-The Black Sheep.” Dr. Lake has been published in Rock Springs Review, Stir, Well-Versed, and the Mizzou Alumni Magazine. Among her many awards for her writing, Lake received first place in the 2011 Doris Mueller Poetry and Prose Contest for her children’s story, “Boots–The Black Sheep.”
