Special Agent Larry Tongate worked on white-collar, narcotic crimes, bank robbery as well as terrorism and other violations of Federal and State laws. He participated in undercover roles throughout the United States as well as Bolivia, Brazil and Germany. In April 1996 he became one of the co-case agents investigating the Oklahoma City Bombing on April 19, 1995. He also participated in the trials of Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols in Colorado.
In 2000 Mr. Tongate retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and accepted a position as Deputy Director of the Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA).
Tongate co-authored Simple Truths The Real Story of the Oklahoma City Bombing Investigation with another retired FBI agent and an Oklahoma historian.
He will discuss this investigation and how it led to writing a book.
In May 2013 Mr. Tongate retired from Midwest HIDTA and now resides in Stone County, Mo.
