Yancy Caruthers served 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserves, while simultaneously advancing his civilian career as a Registered Nurse in intensive care and emergency/trauma fields. He served two tours in Iraq. Following his military career, he continued to serve his country as a diplomat with the U.S. Department of State with assignments to Lima, Peru and Nassau, in the Bahamas. He claims to be retired, although he stays busy writing, speaking, and supporting veterans’ causes.
His book, Northwest of Eden, is a memoir about his experiences as the second-in-command of an Army Emergency Department during the Iraq War. The unit is stationed in Springfield, MO. His work-in-progress is a collection of stories based on the real-life experiences of six Army medics from WWII to Afghanistan called Medic!
